What a $45/Month Website Care Plan Should Actually Include

Hosting alone is not website care. Here is the practical checklist a real $45/month plan should cover—and what to ask before signing.

Website care should prevent problems, not just react to them

A website care plan is easy to dismiss as another subscription—especially when the provider only says “maintenance included.” That phrase is too vague.

A useful plan should keep the site secure, fast, backed up, and easy to update. It should also give you a real person to contact when something goes wrong.

Here is what we believe a $45 monthly care plan should cover.

Managed hosting

Hosting is the foundation. It should include SSL, reliable infrastructure, sensible traffic capacity, and monitoring. You should not be asked to diagnose server errors or compare hosting tiers after launch.

Ask who owns the hosting account, what happens if you cancel, and whether your site can be exported. Care should never mean lock-in.

Security monitoring and updates

Dependencies, plugins, and frameworks change. A care provider should apply appropriate updates, watch for known vulnerabilities, and respond when a security issue affects the stack.

This does not mean promising that no incident can ever happen. It means reducing exposure and having a clear response process.

Automated backups

A backup is only useful if it can be restored. Your plan should state how often backups run, how long they are retained, and whether a copy lives separately from the production site.

For an informational business site, daily backups are usually enough. A busy store or booking system may need a tighter schedule.

Uptime and form monitoring

A homepage can load while the contact form quietly fails. Good monitoring checks the business-critical path—not only whether the server responds.

At minimum, the provider should watch uptime and investigate recurring errors. For lead-generation sites, form delivery and key integrations deserve routine checks too.

Performance maintenance

Websites slow down as large images, tracking scripts, and new features accumulate. Care should include image optimization, cache configuration, and periodic review of the most important pages.

Nobody can guarantee the exact same speed score forever, but your provider should notice meaningful regressions before customers do.

Small content updates

Business hours change. Team members join. A service description needs a correction. A practical care plan should include a clearly defined allowance for small edits.

The key is clarity: what counts as an edit, how quickly it is handled, and when a request becomes new project work.

Human support

The difference between cheap hosting and website care is ownership. When you report a problem, someone should investigate it instead of sending you to a knowledge base or blaming another vendor.

Questions to ask before buying

  • Are hosting and SSL included?
  • How frequently are backups created and tested?
  • What security monitoring is active?
  • Are contact forms monitored?
  • How many small edits are included?
  • What is the normal response time?
  • Can I take my site elsewhere if I cancel?

A care plan is worth paying for when it buys continuity and accountability. If the provider cannot explain exactly what is covered, it is probably hosting with a nicer name.

Minuswires care plans start at $45 per month and include managed hosting, security updates, monitoring, backups, performance support, and a team that knows the site.
