Amazon marketplace launch

Launch on Amazon without burning your first year

Amazon is a search engine that happens to take payments. Getting a product to sell there is mostly listing quality, keyword coverage, imagery and review velocity — done in the right order, before you spend anything on ads.

Most failed Amazon launches were lost before the first ad ran

The usual pattern is a product listed quickly with three photos and a description written from the manufacturer's spec sheet, followed by an ad budget trying to rescue it. Amazon ranks on relevance and conversion, so a weak listing gets expensive traffic that does not convert, which teaches the algorithm the listing is bad. The order matters enormously.

  • The title reads like an internal product name and misses the terms buyers search
  • Photos are on a white background and never show scale, use or what is in the box
  • The listing sits in a category where your product cannot realistically rank
  • No reviews, so the conversion rate stays low no matter what the ads spend
  • Backend search terms are empty, leaving a large share of relevance unclaimed

What the launch involves

In the order that matters. Advertising comes last, once the listing can convert the traffic it buys.

Account and compliance setup

Seller Central configured properly, brand registry where you own the trademark, GTIN and barcode handling, category approvals, and the tax and shipping settings that cause suspensions when they are wrong.

Keyword and category research

What buyers actually type, how much of it your category can win, and where the realistic openings are. This decides the title, the bullets and the backend terms — and sometimes it decides not to launch.

Imagery and A+ content

The main image that earns the click, plus the sequence that answers scale, contents, use and comparison. A+ content for brand-registered sellers, because on mobile the images carry more weight than the text.

Listing copy that ranks and sells

Title, bullets and description written for the search terms and the buyer at once — covering the objections that otherwise become returns and one-star reviews.

Review strategy, within the rules

Amazon's own request flow, inserts that comply with policy, and follow-up that does not risk your account. Reviews drive conversion, and buying them ends sellers permanently.

Advertising once it is ready

Sponsored Products starting broad to discover converting terms, then tightened. Run against a listing that converts, not as a rescue for one that does not.

Who this is for

Brands with a proven product

Something already selling through your own site or wholesale, where Amazon is an additional channel rather than an experiment in whether anyone wants it.

Manufacturers going direct

Selling direct alongside distribution, which needs care around pricing, brand control and existing reseller relationships.

Sellers with listings that stalled

Product is live, sales are flat. Usually a listing quality and keyword coverage problem rather than a budget one.

Businesses weighing marketplace against own-site

Amazon buys reach and takes margin and the customer relationship. We will lay out that trade honestly for your numbers before you commit.

How we work

Research, then listing, then reviews, then ads. Skipping ahead is what makes launches expensive.

  1. Viability check

Category competition, realistic price point, fee and margin arithmetic after referral and fulfilment costs. If the numbers do not work, we would rather tell you at this stage than after the inventory arrives.

  2. Account and brand setup

Seller Central, brand registry, categories and compliance handled before anything is listed, because fixing these afterwards is far harder.

  3. Build the listing

Keyword research into title, bullets, description, backend terms, imagery and A+ content — the whole listing built as one thing rather than assembled piecemeal.

  4. Launch and gather reviews

Controlled launch with compliant review generation, so early conversion data teaches the algorithm the right thing about your listing.

  5. Advertise and refine

Sponsored Products to discover converting search terms, feeding back into the listing. Monthly review against advertising cost of sale and profit, not gross revenue.

What it costs

Quoted per project against catalogue size, because listing work scales with the number of products and variations rather than with a package tier.

  • Viability check and category research: a fixed-fee first phase, so you can stop after it
  • Listing build: priced per product and per variation
  • Imagery and A+ content: quoted against the shot list your product needs
  • Advertising management: flat monthly fee, never a percentage of your ad spend
  • The seller account is yours, in your name, with us granted access — you keep everything if you leave

Amazon questions we get asked

How much does it cost to launch a product on Amazon?
Beyond inventory, budget for listing creation, photography, and an initial advertising period while reviews accumulate. The costs people underestimate are photography and the ad spend needed during the review-building phase, when conversion is naturally at its lowest. We put real numbers to this in the viability check, including Amazon's referral and fulfilment fees against your margin, before you commit stock.
Should I sell on Amazon or on my own website?
Both, usually, for different reasons. Amazon brings buyers already in a purchasing mindset and takes a referral fee plus the customer relationship — you do not get their email, and you are one click from competitors. Your own store keeps the margin, the data and the repeat business, but you must bring the traffic. Most product businesses use Amazon for reach and their own site for margin and retention.
What is FBA and should I use it?
Fulfilment by Amazon means they store, pick, pack and ship, and your listing becomes Prime-eligible, which materially affects conversion. You pay storage and fulfilment fees, and long-term storage charges on stock that does not move. It generally makes sense for smaller, faster-moving items and less so for large, heavy or slow-selling ones — the arithmetic is per product, not per business.
How long before a new Amazon listing starts selling?
Expect a ramp measured in weeks to a few months. New listings have no sales history or reviews, so they rank poorly and convert below their eventual rate, which is why early advertising costs more per sale than it will later. The businesses that struggle are usually the ones that judge the channel in the first fortnight and stop before the reviews arrive.
Can you fix listings that are already live but not selling?
Yes, and that is a large share of this work. We audit keyword coverage, imagery, conversion rate and category placement, then rebuild what is holding it back. Flat sales on an established listing are far more often a listing-quality problem than an advertising-budget one.
Do you guarantee sales or a Best Seller rank?
No. Anyone guaranteeing rank on Amazon is either describing something they cannot control or planning to break the terms of service in a way that risks your account. What we can commit to is the work: a compliant account, a listing built on real keyword research, imagery that converts, and advertising judged against profit.
