A redesign that keeps what your old site earned
Moving off Wix, Squarespace, WordPress or GoDaddy without losing the rankings, the links and the content you built up. We map every old URL to a new one, export your content properly, and rebuild the site as custom code. Redesigns run $1,500 to $3,500 depending on size, with a fixed quote before work starts.
The old site is holding you back. Replacing it badly is worse
A site that looks dated, loads slowly or cannot be edited without a fight is a real cost. But the most common redesign mistake is not the design. It is launching a new site with new URLs, no redirects and half the content missing, then watching the Google traffic the old site had quietly fall away. Both problems are fixable. The second one is only fixable if someone plans for it.
- Pages that rank today with URLs nobody wrote down before the rebuild
- Blog posts, photos and testimonials stuck inside a builder that has no proper export
- A template that fights every change and gets slower with each plugin or app
- Monthly platform fees that keep rising for a site you cannot take with you
- A design from years ago that makes a good business look like a risky one
- No one on your side who will say which parts of the old site are worth keeping
What a redesign includes
The visible part is the new design. The part that protects your business is everything below it.
A redirect map for every old URL
Before anything is built we crawl the old site and list every page, image and file that has a URL. Each one gets a destination on the new site, or a deliberate decision to retire it. The map is a spreadsheet you can see, and the redirects go live the same minute the new site does.
Content export, done per platform
Each builder hides your content differently. WordPress exports cleanly; Squarespace exports posts and pages but not everything; Wix and GoDaddy Website Builder mostly do not export at all, so we pull the content page by page. We tell you up front which of those you are in.
Ranking preservation
We keep the page titles and headings that are working, keep the words that earned the rankings, keep the URLs where we can and redirect the rest, and resubmit the site to Google Search Console at launch. Then we watch the numbers for the weeks after and fix anything that moved.
A custom-coded rebuild
The new site is code, not a template with your logo in it. It loads fast on a phone, it does what your business needs rather than what a theme allows, and it is yours to take anywhere. No monthly platform fee for the privilege of editing your own pages.
Copy and structure review
A redesign is the moment to fix the pages that never said what you do. We review every page's job, cut what is not earning its place, and rewrite what is unclear, in your voice, with your facts.
Managed hosting and care after launch
Hosting, SSL, backups, monitoring and small edits from $45/mo. Domain and email are moved carefully so nothing bounces on launch day. You are not left holding a site nobody maintains.
Moving off each platform
Leaving Wix
Wix has no real site export, so content is moved page by page, and its URLs (often with /post/ or /single-post/ in them) all need redirects. We have written up the full comparison at Minuswires vs Wix.
Leaving Squarespace
Squarespace exports pages and blog posts to a WordPress-format file, but not galleries, products or some page types, so those are moved by hand. Its /blog/ and /s/ style URLs get mapped one by one. See Minuswires vs Squarespace.
Leaving WordPress
WordPress exports cleanly, which makes the content side easy. The work is in what the plugins were doing: forms, galleries, SEO settings and redirects all need rebuilding without them, and the hosting bills stop. See Minuswires vs WordPress.
Leaving GoDaddy
GoDaddy Website Builder has no export, so content is moved by hand, and the domain and email are usually tied into the same account, which needs untangling before launch. See Minuswires vs GoDaddy.
How a migration runs
The order matters. Building the new design first and thinking about URLs last is how rankings get lost.
Crawl and inventory the old site
Every URL, every page title, every image and file, and which pages actually get traffic from Search Console. This becomes the redirect map and tells us what is worth keeping.
Agree the new structure and scope
Which pages stay, which merge, which go, and what is new. Fixed quote against that: usually $1,500 for a business site, $3,500 for a growth build with a blog and more pages.
Export and move the content
By the method your platform allows. Text, images, posts, testimonials and downloads all land in the new site, checked against the inventory so nothing is missed.
Build, then test the redirects
The new site is built as custom code. Before launch we test every redirect in the map against a staging copy, check forms and phone links, and run the site through speed and accessibility checks.
Launch and watch
Domain and email are moved with the old site still live until the new one is confirmed working. Search Console gets the new sitemap. We watch rankings and traffic for the following weeks and fix anything that shifted.
What a redesign costs
A redesign is priced the same as a new build of the same size, because that is what it is, with the migration work included. Most fall into the $1,500 or $3,500 tier.
- $1,500 + $45/mo: a Business redesign of five to eight pages, redirect map, content migration and local SEO foundation, usually two to three weeks
- $3,500 + $99/mo: a Growth redesign with a blog, landing pages, integrations and advanced SEO structure, usually four to six weeks
- $499 + $45/mo: a small site of one to five pages that only needs a clean rebuild
- The redirect map and ranking preservation work are included, not an add-on
- Fixed quote in writing before work starts; no hourly billing
- You own the finished site outright and can take it anywhere
Questions about redesigns and migrations
- Will we lose our Google rankings if we redesign?
- Not if the migration is planned. Rankings are lost when URLs change without redirects, when the words that were ranking get rewritten into something vaguer, or when pages are quietly dropped. We keep the URLs we can, redirect every one we cannot, keep the titles and copy that are working, and resubmit to Google at launch. Some movement in the first weeks is normal and we watch for it. What nobody can honestly promise is that rankings will go up because the site is prettier.
- Can you move our content off Wix, Squarespace, WordPress or GoDaddy?
- Yes, and each is different. WordPress exports cleanly. Squarespace exports pages and posts but not everything. Wix and GoDaddy Website Builder have no real export, so content is moved page by page from the live site. We tell you which situation you are in before quoting, and the move is included in the price.
- What is a redirect map and why does it matter?
- A list of every URL on your old site and where each one should go on the new site. When someone, or Google, follows an old link, they land on the right new page instead of an error. Without it, every link to your site from other websites, directories and old emails breaks on launch day, and Google treats the new pages as strangers. It is a spreadsheet, it is not glamorous, and it is the single most important document in a redesign.
- How much does a website redesign cost?
- The same as a new site of the same size: $1,500 plus $45/mo for a Business site of five to eight pages, or $3,500 plus $99/mo for a Growth site with a blog and more pages. That includes the redirect map, content migration and ranking preservation. Very small sites can be rebuilt at the $499 Launch tier. The quote is fixed in writing before we start.
- How long does a redesign take?
- Two to three weeks for a Business-size site and four to six for a Growth build, from the point your content and access are in hand. The old site stays live the whole time. The most common delay is waiting on new photos or copy, so we start that conversation at the first meeting.
- Do we keep our domain and email?
- Yes. Your domain stays yours and is pointed at the new site on launch day, with the old site still running until we confirm the new one is working. If your email runs through the same account as your old builder, as it often does with GoDaddy, we separate the two first so nothing bounces.
